Hi all. I have been working out of town for about the last 10 years and have finally had enough of it. So I have taken a new job closer to home. It is going to let me do more trapping and work on my new camp. I am looking forward to working with the company on the new job as know most of them.

I will be doing the same thing working in forestry running equipment. But will be running a forwarder a quite a bit of the time. It is new to me as I have never sat in the seat of one. Ran skidder and truck lots and have many hours running log loaders so I think it will be a short learning curve.

Don't start the new job until the 6th so of to camp tomorrow to get a few beaver traps set for marten bait. Would have liked to have gotten a few in early November in open water but will have to cut ice now. We have had lots of snow so the runs will have little to no ice on the couple of colonies I am going to start with. I was not able to trap them last year and only took a few from each one last year.

North 50 already have less stress on my mind and wptourist that job was getting old for a year or so now. It only took me about an hour to make the decision to leave when I got the phone call from the new company I will be working for.

Won't have to use my own truck for work unless I am at camp for the weekend and then it is only 20 minutes to the job site. Otherwise I will be picked up and dropped off at home daily. That is the biggest reason for the change the last job I was driving about 4 to 5 k a month

Well I'm a week into my new job and enjoying every minute of it. Very nice guys to work with and easy going. I've been working on the D6 freezing up winter roads and repairing processor chains and what not. Doing some maintenance on the grader today so it is ready to go on Sunday night to have the road cleared up for Monday morning for the haul trucks. Absolutely stress free environment. My new snares are supposed to be in the post office today can't wait to get them and try them out.

I still remember sitting in traffic in KC and realizing I didnt have peace with my job and there had to be more than sitting behind someones bumper for half an hour every day to go 2 miles. I had a good job, full benefits paid and company truck, but no peace. So, I left the job and went to go work in the field I wanted for the state. Took a 30k a year cut in pay to make a third of what I previously did. Guy hiring me even questioned me letting me know I would not make near as much. Best decision I ever made. Got out of the city and the associated rat race. Little did I know - but it was exactly what the Lord was leading me into and I finally listened to Him. Had time to draw alone with my Creator and realize I was indeed a sinner and needed His grace over my life.
Began truly seeking Jesus and found Him on the floor of my house when I finally yielded my life over to Him. Day to day grew with Him for a period of about 3 years. Left that job and went to grad school while working a part time job. Met my wife and started working for the feds in the field I could only dream of - wildlife damage control. Enjoyed it immensely but again began to not have the peace I desired. Stepped out again and moved with gov across the country in another field but still enjoyable all the while considering my responsibility to serve God and lead my family now of 4. Few years there next to Canada moved back to southern Iowa and received another promotion. Few years there and moved back within 2 miles of where we had been 5 years previously - now earning for my family twice what I met before I left KC.
The Lord is good and when we seek Him whole heartedly - we will have a peace that passes all understanding. I have learned to listen to Him and would encourage all of you if you are truly miserable in a job to seek Him and allow Him to direct your paths. I was 25 years old, plowing my own path before I began to listen.

Sweetwilliam - it sounds like you are beginning to understand more peace in your life and I thank God for Him directing you and would challenge others to also take that leap of faith after seeking what the Lord wants with you.

Fun times! Our ice roads usually only open in February. I assume they’re out right now flooding the ice. I guess smaller vehicles use em now if they’re opened up all the way.
Good luck!
