We had our bigger Martens Christmas yesterday evening. My sister came in crying saying that my nephew and his wife wouldn’t be making it this year. Earlier in the afternoon his father-in-law was clearing the ice pond in their back yard to make a rink like they do every year for Christmas. Well, with poor ice conditions the skid steer went through. Dive crews pulled him out several hours later. It’ll be a sad Christmas for their family and I’m sure the father will be missed.
The beaver ponds are very dangerous this year compared to last year (in our area at least). We’ve all gone through several times.
Play safe and Merry Christmas!

(What do you miss about Christmas?)
Truthfully I'm not sure I always have an empty spot. I grew up in a small fairly dysfunctional family. We never put much into getting together or presents. I'v tried the religious side and that is good but still leaves me with an empty spot. Our children are adults and we have grandchildren around often. They will all be here in a few hours and it will be nice having them for lunch and presents. But with that being said I still feel like I am missing something every year. I really don't think I am expecting too much because I never have really expected anything.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I truly hope you have the best season ever.

When we were young we cut our tree from our own woods. Our dad was color blind so some years we came home with a yellowish jack pine! Still looked okay when decorated.
