Hi everybody!
My name is Brandy. I am from Pa, but travel back and forth between Pa and Tn where I attend veterinary school. I have been going with my dad in the woods since I was 4 years old and have continued hunting mostly turkeys and deer with some small game here and there. I was recently introduced to trapping by a dear friend. I made my first set just a week ago, but now have 8 out (4 DP's and 4 footholds). I've not caught anything yet but I am determined and willing to learn. Any tips and tricks are more than welcome along the way!

Yes! Turkey hunting is, and I feel, will always be my favorite! There's just something about calling to them and having them call back that thrills me! I've gotten a tom every year except 2 since I was 6. It truly is such a privilege that I must give thanks to my dad for! This past spring we took @elsmasho82 out turkey hunting for the first time and it was such a blast!
While I was at Penn State for my undergraduate degree, I was apart of the Collegiate NWTF chapter where the first year I was a member and the second, I was the president. We went to the national convention for the past two years and I was completely in my glory! PSU was awarded 2nd place for highest net amount raised of the collegiate chapters and 1st place for the highest membership of the collegiate chapters.

Your first couple seasons you'll probably do more learning than catching but it's a lot of fun and good exercise, and you'll learn things about animals you never even thought about before. And the fur will start to come as you get things figured out. Happy trapping

Good for you. I do not know about now but 60 years ago vet school was the hardest professional school to get in to. And you then had to have had experienced at least a year with as a vet tech. No matter what congratulations......jk Exdentist = retired

Easiest way to start trapping is with 220’s or 160’s in bucket sets for raccoon. A 330 at a beaver dam break is also simple to master. Caster mounds aren’t difficult either.

All depends on what animals are on your properties.

Best location and best bait/lure you can find, after thats it's just a matter of doing the basics right. More sets you have out on good locations the better your chances.
Welcome

I don’t think we can do most of that in PA. All bodygrips have to be in a watercourse. And I seem to think you can’t set on a dam but I may be wrong. Brandy is gonna get her something. I know it!

Find a local trapper that is willing to take you out on their line. This will shorten the learning curve substantially.
