And yet still better than walking most of the time. We make due with what we have. Over the years I have hunted and traped out of 2wd trucks, cars, mini vans, as well as suv and 4x4s. hauled deer in trunks, back seats, on hoods, in the space between seat and slider on mini van( great way don't have to lift them high).

Same reason many of us have skined critters in the house when it was our only place to do so. We make do with what we have. And yet a 4x4 tuck is absolutely the best he is right. But 2wd will teach you a lot in how to drive and you learn how to get unstuck yourself before you get really really stuck well like you will with a 4x4.

Good morning Brandy, welcome to Trapperman!

If your weather is like what's in my area right now, I wouldn't doubt you'll have your first coon today.

For the moment, best advise I can give is to stick with it and keep learning along the way.

The big things you will learn are obvious. The minute things often mean more.

Being as busy as you are, which is terrific, you have a lot going on. Keep a small notebook in your pocket and use it, especially for the littlest things. You will be surprised at what those notes will come to mean and teach you. Good luck with all.

Welcome.

Are your sets being visited but not worked?

Has the wind been consistent in direction since you put them out?

Trailing scents can help I read here never tried that yet but sounded interesting. Glad smash got you into trapping and the sight welcome. You will start to learn more than you ever thought possible about animal behavior, travel patterns, and such. It's an always learning journey and like Christmas morning never knowing what you might have every single day. Don't get discouraged when you get started. Once you start catching you will learn at each set about location set presentation and such and get better and better.

The best critters are the hard smart ones that get your bait and set off your traps. I learn the most from them.

Glad you joined the ranks of trappers. Everyone does it for different reasons. I got back into it after 40 year absence to try and reduce the predation around my house and farm. I didn’t realize how much I missed it and how fulfilling it is.

Welcome, and if you get to the NWTF Convention in Feb. 2025, look us up as we have an educational booth there way over in the back. We are the Tennessee Fur Harvesters Association, and we would love to have you come to some of our events when you can get a day or two off from school. We can also talk some turkey hunting at the convention as that is my first passion. You can look us up on our web site for more information.
