Ok so 5-6 years ago I broke my glasses, got to digging through boxes and found my previous pair. The lenses from my broken pair fit almost perfect. So to my wifes dismay I didnt get an appointment to get new ones. Fast forward to this evening and I broke my cobbled together pair. Well crap, have to work Monday and Tuesday and headed out of town on Thursday. Well since I dont like to throw away things I may need. I get to digging around and I find my glasses from 3 prescriptions ago. But crap the lenses wont fit, so for the heck of it I just put them on. Apparently my prescription hasnt changed much over 3 prescriptions and since these lenses have fewer scratches I can actually see better. Should have seen the look I got from my wife when I came down the hall and told her I still dont have to get an appointment for new ones. Call me a cheap skate hoarder, I wear it like a badge of honor. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/12/full-43279-241481-20241227_193906_copy_1512x2016.jpg)

My super power is keeping something like that for years then finally throwing it away only days before I finally need it.

Oh man, I totally hear you!
Last Summer I planned to entirely change my life. Been a painter for over thirty years, also did a bit of construction work here and there so, had all the tools I needed. Planned to move to S Carolina and start a whole new career. Figured since I'm almost 60 I'd get a job at Home Depot or something like that. Did six weekends of yardsales selling off all the stuff I thought I'd never really need again, ladders, hand tools, shovels, you name it. Went to S Carolina, realized that no matter where you go you wake up with yourself and went back to NY. One month later I bought a burned out house and rebuilt the whole thing after stripping it down to floor joists and studs. Needless to say, I was kicking myself every time I ran to the store to buy a new tool for ten times the price I'd just sold them for only a month or so earlier. UGH!!

In 3 hours the head-ache will tell you if the same Rx is there or not Wore them for a couple hours last night and had them on an hour or so this morning. Headaches are a possibility for sure, but i hope not.

The pair I'm currently wearing I put together and although it's not a perfect fit they don't fall out. There are some small gaps at the corners but it holds tight enough everywhere else. I put them together just to get by but it's been a couple of years. Thats how the ones I cobbled together were, the inside lower corners had a small gap between the lense and the frame. You could see it but only if I pointed it out first.

Yeah Hobbie, that one hurt..and of course there was a woman behind it all. However, six weeks ago I moved into my very own, pretty much brand new house, rebuilt about 75% by myself, and couldn't be happier I'm assuming the woman was not invited along? You said you were happy now so it's a logical assumption!

The whole glasse being Perscription drives me crazy. According to the eye doctors I have had over the years. My prescription has changed so little it's almost not worth changing the prescription. So why are glasses Perscription?? Most the time when I needed new glasses it was because I trashed them beyond repair. I did get new regularly while I was working. They paid for the safety glasses so that's what I bought.. Try to get a new pair of same frames every time I was eligible. My back up glasses now are the last pair I got when I was still working.
Talk about not getting rid of things. I still have the first pair of glasses I got at age 30. I can actually still use them but they are single vision. My prescription did change at some point so I now wear progressive lense. I can still wear my single vision tinted shooting glasses if I'm out bird hunting. Just takes little bit to adjust. Single vision you have to move your head, progressive you move your eyes.

Just get your soldering iron out and fix those. That thought did cross mind. But once I found these and the prescription was so close I just put them on amd kept going.
