The ball is rolling . My son has a name and address of the guy that took my boat , Apparently the guy posted on snapchat that he was duck hunting and got a new boat today. He posted a picture and then took down his snapchat post right afterwards . It has all been turned in to DNR. I dont even have facebook , let alone snapchat what ever that is. DNR said they may go there tonight . I hope so . I guess il find out more tomarrow.

Great news After my son gave all the information to DNR they called me at 11pm and said they found my boat. We went down and identfied it My boat was seen at around 1pm and they done a cameo paint job and cut the hull id off , then put a 8 or 10 horse motor on it . My traps are gone and both oars are gone . The guy wasent home and they are filling charges . Il know more when that happens . Thanks for all the concerns .

Glad to hear that. I'm sure you'll press full charges. The fact that they went to all that trouble to conceal the theft should really help to prosecute their sorry hind ends.

Maybe they will say where your traps and things are when they get locked up. Do you get to keep the motor or is it also stolen property?

Glad you at least got the boat back. Probably threw the traps overboard. That area especially has changed, I remember when Bishopville = the dark side of the moon. Used to be some nice quality fur come out of there.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Glad you recovered the boat

I was hoping it was some young guys that were just dumb and really thought they found a boat, sounds like they are criminals and knew exactly what they were doing (cutting ID numbers off)

Hope they get a felony on their record, down here a felony will keep you from owning or even possessing a firearm which would keep them from ever duck hunting or any gun related hunting activities. That would be worse than jail time for me

Great news on finding the boat. I hope you get the rest of your stuff back and the scumbags get prosecuted.

Keep us updated.

Good deal. Hope they also have to replace traps and other items NIB. I hate those type of people and I hope they get their just reward. Unfortunately nothing will replace your trapping venture. Been in similar spots and the crooks are very lucky I’m not a judge. Court would not be fun for them

My son with all of his face book knowledge and friends that gave him tips on where to look for their type of boat led him in the right direction. Once he got that he took it to DNR , They called me at 11pm at the exact address he gave them . The one guy is 22 years old , no idea about the one that was with him . I still dont know how it will turn out . Im just worried now because my traps had my Maryland DNR ID # on them . So if they get used in an illegal mannor are the going to come back on me? Now i have to go cut more stakes I have more traps to set , so im ok there . Il have to also buy more rope and oars .

Youll be fine. You filed a report of stolen boat and traps...its documented in case someone does something illegal with your traps

You might look into getting a new DNR ID number assigned or perhaps retag your traps with a date along with the number to show post vs pre theft.

Definitely come up with a list of stolen items and replacement costs. Submit this to DNR via a certified letter including number and description of traps stolen and ID numbers. Make copies, staple USPS certification documentation to it, and file where you can find it someday.

This . Big pain I know. Also include replacement value for the arresting office.

Meanwhile check out the otter population up there.....I have done a couple small jobs there and otter toilets on every shore I have been. Especially on the point at Piney Island. None of the residents had a clue what was doing it.
