Which do you prefer or would? Keep in mind comfort versus classic look. I'm conflicted as i like both bench and buckets. With a bench in the car I'm planning on restoring the factory floor console and shifter is possible but they never came with it from the factory only with buckets.
The car in question is a 72 Nova Super Sport all matching numbers car. Only 12,309 were made in the SS model.
True Nova buckets are hard to come by and are a fortune for seats that need lots of repair work when you can find them. I'm looking at a pair of 78 Firebird buckets, but, i also have the front bench seat.
What would you do?

Thanks,
Sarge

With a all matching number car and that few made I’d go as original as possible.

A matching number car deserves the seats that are on the build sheet.

Where are the seats ...that belong to the car ?

Ness, I'm believe their gone. Came with a bench. So, I guess it's not all original then. It is a column shift. But want to go with a factory floor shift( which I have) and a factory tilt column (i also have ) which were oprltions back then.No it will not be a factory restored car. Not for racing but with added factory options that were available. Also.will add all the chrome that was an option in 72. I Will keep all parts should I want a near factory car in the future.
Just like I have a cluster panel with the factory molded radio delete and the word NOVA in the center. Very rear, but it's what is going in it. Why, I think it would be different.
Yes, a little modified with a personal touch.
The engine and tranny are matching numbers. These will be rebuilt for highway cruising in mind. No racing or with shakes at stop lights.

I'm buying replacement parts like crazy. All chrome will be new.

Restoring a matching numbers 73 Z28 RS. Re-pop tires were $400 each to match the Wide Oval 60s that came on it from the factory. That should tell you what I think! Go back to what she was!

If it was a Pontiac...you could send the VIN to the Pontiac Historical Society ( PHS )...

And get a print out of every option that was on that car ...when it was built ./ Ordered

Then you can see if it's a real SS ...or someone just added a hood and badges

I don't know if Chevy kept records like Pontiac did

But the VIN number should tell you something

Lots of clones out there

I would if I were 20 years younger. A full restro with all the factory frame markings and such. Way too much detail at my age. Don't want a street beater, somewhere between a and modified show / highway cruiser
But your right. If a young person could find and finish one. A car worth 6 figures easily.

Trapdoor, for sure. If I'm still married and alive. Giving up my dream Bass boat (smaller boat for sure) for this one and my moose hunt. My first car was a 72 nova. Loved it. But couldn't pass up this opportunity to get it right this time.
Just believe I'd enjoy this more then all of the other stuff. Plus, this will only increase in value if done right.
