Here’s a little interaction I caught on trail cam. I actually got about 3-4 more pictures of the mouse on the log. Interesting to see the cat check out the log. I assume he heard the mouse or smelled it or a combination of the two. I believe that log is hollow.

Mice are good bait. All the V.E. Lynch trapping books I've read have a set described where a live mouse is kept in a small cage and well cared for, so that it lives and produces a lot of smell, to draw in fur. Mouse urine has a strong smell. I can smell that a barn has a mouse issue, when I step into it.

Birds of prey can actually see the urine trails of rodents because their urine fluoresces.

heard of guys leaving weasel booxes out in the summer time with lots of grass and stuff for mice to liv in and rise young just so the box is more appealing too weasels because the box smellsof mice and then they also get some great dirthole filler also
