Here is a 136 pound caught a couple years ago by my trapping partner. It was a big one . We catch a ton of them mostly 80 to 100 pounds he is probably a foot off the ceiling and it is a 10 foot ceiling . I am pretty shore we trap fairly close to Morgan because I see his signs when I drive to my line . So I know there is some big ones out there. [Linked Image]

By the comments apparently most didn’t even read the article, lol. Seems to be a common theme on this site, look at a pic and give their “expert” opinions.

It's no wonder people grossly over estimate weight on wolves. That's a nice one for certain!!

Nobody's calling the guy out, unless I'm missing some comments. They're all congratulating him on a big wolf. Guys saying they got a 150lb wolf is always skeptical without an actual weight, which he did. Probably knowing that people will doubt him. Like I say, no doubt they're out there, but very few and far between. My biggest at 94.6 and smallest at 55lb. Usually between 60-70 around here. By the time you get it out, it sure feels like 200. Same thing as hauling a 90lb beaver out. It's 68lb by the time it's on the scale in the garage....lol

I called in and shot this guy in MN. 120# on a certified scale. The DNR didn’t believe me. They’d never weighed one that heavy.

I drew a tag for MN’s first wolf hunt years ago. At the time my dad and I would canoe a few miles into a designated non-motorized area, set up a tepee we made, and deer hunt for about 10 days. The year I drew a wolf tag I decided they’d be my priority.

The night before I shot him I’d wake up every hour or so and listen to them from my sleeping bag. I knew they were headed towards an area I had a climber stand so I headed there well before light. I was listening to multiple wolves howling as I was waiting for shooting light. I was right in the middle of them. A good place to be. Once it was light enough to see well I hit a fawn-in-distress call mixed with coyote yips. Within a few minutes this guy ran right in and I shot him right at the base of the tree.

MN law required the entire carcass be submitted. I had to carry him on a backpack about a mile, canoe him about a mile, and then carry him another half mile to the truck. All while gagging and heaving from his smell.i had no clue what he weighed but i was hurting bad so i brought him to a certified scale and he was 120 pounds.

Fun memory. I was interviewed on Minnesota Public Radio afterwards and subsequently received a lot of death threats!!
