I do the 5 gallon bucket trap too, my bait is bacon grease and my roller is paracord with a cardboard from a paper towel roll

Old arrows worked good as the line. RV anti freeze so temp doesn't matter.

They're mouse machines. If I've been away from my cabin for a while I set one up when I get home and it'll catch 12+ mice in 24 hours

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I got more oil sacs ransacked last night and didn't catch the culprit. They learn very fast seeing their compadre caught.

And now they're going down the rafter and eating the noses out of my hanging beaver pelts! Arrggg!

Well, I got a 110 with a coni pan on that rafter now. I hate to get into intelligence tests with rats...always nervous I'll come out on the losing end.

Just got done with an infestation from my neighbors chicken yard, they were burrowing under my old chicken coop, decided on some special "vitamins" from tractor supply. Took about a week but the last offerings are still there. Next door was working on them too. I don't usually like using poison, but it works like a charm....

Which poison did you use? Some of the pelleted poisons for rats haven't worked for me. They won't eat it.

Last bucket was Prowler purple bait chunks, I've had good luck with the Tomcat brand chunks too, but the Prowler was cheaper. I like the chunks, they hold up to moisture better than pellets. My neighbor was using pouched pellets, never cared for using pellets except for mice.
I keep a few chunks in my sheds all winter for the deer mice .
If you have a lot of rats, changing to a different bait formula might be a good idea after a week or so

Set up a 110 with coni pan. Hopefully this gets another one before they figure it out.

Nice!, never saw roof rats here, just the brown rats....
We used to have a bunch of duck farms on my road, over run with rats, every trip down the road at night you'd see them crossing, would try and run them over with the truck, lol
Record was 2 on one trip.... grin
