Been almost two weeks since we connected on a canine, for whatever reason. So when the weather broke and ice was off the ponds we set a couple beaver traps at the local golf course. Had a large one (buried my small 50# scale, will weigh him tomorrow) this morning, as well as 1 red and 2 grey fox. Turned out to be a great day.

Me neither…..actually ordered some new baits/lures and threw in some new sets in several areas. Just strange. Hopefully that’s over, we will see……

I find my coyote line almost shuts down during firearms season. Woods full of hunters, coyotes being shot at, gut piles and unrecovered deer supplying lots of food. Late muzzleloader season is pretty active around here too. I once asked Mark Zagger about this and he said the same thing.

Yes, as Archeryguy says. At this time of year I learned to shift your mindset to using all blind, trail sets, no lure, no bait, urine, just put the trap where they step or CR’s where they place their heads.

If only we could use CR’s. Hopefully we will see it start picking up again soon. We have a cold spell moving in for the next 10 days or so with some snow so that should get em moving.

Did pick up another large beaver today at the golf course…..still can’t seem to get pictures to post.
