Every one goes through trials. I know compared to many others I have not experienced things that would seem unbearable to me.

I believe what WY wolfer is getting at is survival of the fattest. Is you don't work you dont eat,
And if you don't eat you parish. Survival of the fit.
spiritually if you don't trust and obey. You become spiritually dead.
I believe he was making an observation.

Spiritual Gifts are special abilities that God gives you for some purpose He has for you. They aren't magical powers that we can use for whatever we want. God has a project for you and he equips you to do that job. If and only if you are willing to do whatever project God puts in front of you. When the project is over, the gift is gone until the next project. I have experienced a few.

I'm always skeptical when someone says "I have the gift of...". There may be a few people who are assigned to the same project for a lifetime and have the same gift or ability for a lifetime. I think one project, one ability - until you're done with the project is more common. Instead of "I have the gift of", I think "God has equipped me to do..." is more in line with what spiritual gifts are.

I've seen tests you can take to figure out what spiritual gift you have. I think they're nonsense. God can give you any gift he chooses whenever he chooses so a man made test isn't worth much - who knows what you're next assignment will be?

I have turned out to be a pretty good teacher in my church. Teaching is a spiritual gifts but also a natural ability. I have felt God working in me when I've taught before - but not all the time. Sometimes God adds to my teaching. Spiritual gift? Maybe. God's active so it's spiritual. But I feel uncomfortable saying "I have the gift of teaching". I'd rather say "that lesson went pretty good and I know God was involved" and continue to seek God's direction in my teaching.

That is definitely a gift, and a very saintly one at that. It also says something about that person, gift or not.
