Anyone have an idea what a fair price would be on #2 Sleepy Creek Double Long Springs?
All in great shape, and not used much. I cannot remember for certain but I think that
I bought them used, but all were in like new condition. Some or most are slightly rusted
to the point that they would take a good dye job. I simply never got around to setting them up as planned,
and have only used a handful. Most have not left the garage/trap shed.

Thanks for any help.

Mac

I think that go for about $11 to $15 each. I love those traps! I have a few and they are great for otters.

If it was the #3 they would be more valuable, the #2 never really took off. I like smaller coil springs traps for bobcats, 1.65 and 550s, but the SC #2 seemed like not enough. Plus the DLS made them to bulky. I know some otter guys liked them.

I have some #3s and #4.5s that still have the factory oil on them. I plan on holding on to them and passing them down. I compare the sleepy creek longsprings to the old newhouse traps in the fact that they were some much better in quality than any other manufacture of their time. I think they will be collector traps one day. I still wouldn't sell them if they went up in value, but like to think that one day a future descendant will use them to trap like "the old days".

If traps work like the Antis say......I would have no fingers.

Thanks Trapper Gunny.
That gives me a reason to keep them. I had heard the #2 DBL were good on otters.
I don't set for otters much but those might be handy if I do.

Thanks cat_trapper_nv

A coyote killer from out West called me right after I posted this question.
He said if I was selling traps to buy a new old man scooter he would start a go fund me page.
It pays to have folks as friend that are always willing to help!!! LOL
Shared this as most of us can stand a laugh every once a while.

Mac IMO you'd have to find just the right guy to give you $10 ea for them when you consider your location and shipping. You can still get B&L #2 DLS for $7-8 pretty much all the time and they are a darn good trap with springs that last. If you don't need that scooter too bad, hanging onto them may be the best route. lol

Good thing you didn’t need a scooter. That arctic cold would probably kill the batteries.

Then again you could just hook it up to one of the sled dog teams and hold on! Turning might be another story....

You could attach a pinwheel to the handlebar to tell wind direction, & a bike bell to call "life alert" when you hit a tree!
Add one of those old time horns you squeeze like you had on your bike when you were a kid and you would be set!
But then again, the wheel might not have been invented that far back.

I can definitely see you flying down the road with the wind blowing through what’s left of your hair on a rig like this.

You would be the talk of the MTA! Mushing Trappers Association !

All kidding aside, I’m glad to hear you are selling traps to make room for other trapping gear.
Maybe you could do a little trading for what you had in mind.

You take care of yourself out there Mac.
We need trappers of your caliber on T-Man.

I bet it would work just fine........

Right up to the point where they saw a cat....

Then I would have to come visit you at the hospital in one of those traction beds and read you trapping stories.
