anyone plant it? Been kinda wanting to try planting but don't know how well it will do here in se Iowa. Hardly know anything about it either.Just sounds kinda neat. Eat it raw,boil it for syrup, turn it into sugar.Heard some even turn it into a privacy fence.

Not sure about sugar cane but you should be able to grow sorgum for syrup....

just looked it up, can grow in zone 9/10, cooler zones it needs to be planted in pots, it won't overwinter

I know nothing of sugar cane but Just make sure your not introducing an invasive plant that'll will come to bite you in that arse later.

Yes. I've grown it in Ohio several times. I bought rooted cuttings from ebay and planted them late May. Some of them got 5-6 feet by fall. We never made syrup or anything, just chewed on the plants. The kids and dog really liked it.

I watched some videos on how to clone sugar cane recently. It looks easy. I might try it this year. I'll be cloning many more plants this year than normal. Next month, I want to purchase 2, 140 unit air cloners, to clone mostly fruit trees.
