I have found it to be an interesting ingredient. There is some ingredients that amplify it and others that nullify and even greatly change it. In small quantities it can really add a twist to some lures. I’ve found it can be difficult to work with in certain formulations.

Funny how it is one of the oldest lure ingredients known and it still makes me scratch my head at times.

I was given some "bear lure" that had a bunch of anise in it, it seemed like crystals in some sort if watery fluid. It was strong in the bottle but seemed to fade on the ground. I got some bear pictures with it in front of cameras but used it to make coon lure to spray around dp sets and it did the same, just faded away. Anise oil seems to do much better for me both alone and in formulation.

Anise oil will amplify castor lures is my experience.

Pure Anise powder is what I have found stays true to odor and will not fade much since it is the dry form not as much as the liquid Star Anise.

I bought some anise seed, but haven't used it yet.

figured I'd grind it and try it that way.
