Just that. Caught a nice Tom bobcat a couple days ago. Made the reset and moved over 5 feet and made a second set. Had a possum in each trap this morning. What has been your experience? Does catching the possums mess the site up?
I ended up pulling both traps and moved down the fenceline 10-15 feet and made a whole new set.

Catching possums apparently doesn't upset my southeast PA fox. I reset and the fox walk right in.

I think disgust might be a purely human emotion
something disgusts us so we won't touch it
like you smell green belly coyote enough times you would never think to eat one ,but they can not too old, be even good if shot and cleaned right away and prepared properly.
I used to know a guy , he has passed now , that called coyotes and ate a few of the young females every year , he roasted them and though they were quite good.
lots of people eat coon , some even possum
I don't think predators further up the food chain avoid lesser animals on a disgust basis.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I caught a possum once that all that was in the frap was a foot. It was chewed off by something, and whatever it was ate tail and all. I know because whatever ate it threw it up right beside the set! First thought a Coyote did it. Few days later heard that a cougar escaped from a compound about 3 miles away. Think maybe it was so hungry it ate it and then thought about it? lol

I remember starting out Fox trapping in the early '70's, word was possum ruined a set. Well, when you're on foot with a couple traps as a kid, I reset them and caught fox in the reset.

I sometimes wonder if the "words" that don't seem to make a lot of sense weren't making perfect sense to someone elses agenda or I am just paranoid

Alot of the word in the fur buyers shed wasn't quite how we do things today and if they knew? Rubber gloves, shoes just for trapping, can't bare hand anything. You'd have thought we were doing open heart surgery, lol.

You have a point, but I also learned a lot from those old fur buyers, Miss those days, and the smell of a fur house.

I reset- usually that possum is plugging up what I thought was the best cat set I'd made all season.
Because I use drags, the area isn't as funked up with possum slime as it woulda been had I staked solid.
