It is a shame. It’s probably my favorite I’ve got an Old Rem 721 and a newer Ruger. Need to fill the Winchester slot.

My 1960 Featherweight is SUPER fussy about having a clean bore to shoot well.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Yep it sure does. That appears to be a T3 receiver. Great rifles!

This thing kick HARD!. Don't even like to shoot it.

Self admitted recoil wimp cry

160, can/ will you explain the differences about the T2 and T3 ? Never heard that discussed before.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

I guess you are going to have to settle for a book photo of a T2 transition. I can't easily get at one at the moment.
T1 "Pre-war" has a cloverleaf tang, low side swing safety and the rear bridge was not drilled for a scope. The rifle on the left is a 1939 300 magnum.

The T2 "Transition" guns retained the cloverleaf tang but had a "clamshell" style safety to accommodate optics that were becoming popular in the late 40's. Prior to the transition guns, guy would drill the rear receiver bridge but the safety was still difficult to get at. An after market safety called a "Tilden" safety made operating the safety easier and the new safety style was used on the T2 and T3 guns.

I would say the T2's are the most desirable being they were only made 2 years. The pre-war's would be next. That said, "altered" or "customized" rifles are a dime a dozen. Holes drilled for a scope mount and recoil pads KILL the value. Most collectors only want original, unaltered stuff. The T3's are by far the most common. If your 270 in indeed 1948, it would have to be VERY, VERY late 48. If I had to guess, I would rather believe it is a 1949. Beautiful bunch of rifles anyway. I have a pile of 264 ammo for mine but like you, I am a recoil whimp. Those things kick WAY harder than any 300 I have ever shot.

Bringing this back to the top as I’ve recently acquired another one. Is there any market/ interest for the period correct old tv screen types of scopes that were often put on these?

We have a few rifles and shotguns that were left to Chuckie from his stepdad. Ithaca shotguns especially were ones he liked.
