I have a couple gallon jars of Beaver Tail Oil brewing since the spring. We are expecting some pretty cold weather coming up this week. Right now the jars are sitting outside. Do I need to worry about the oil freezing? Really don't want a mess, but the Boss isn't going to let me bring them into the warm house. Thinking about putting them in a tub in an unheated shed if y'all thinks that's warranted.

Thanks

The oil won't freeze but the rest of it will. I put mine in the basement for the winter. There should be no foul smell if these have oil on the top layer. If you leave outside make sure your container is only half full to allow for expansion. And don't use glass.
If I want pure tail oil I'll put the oil I drain off in a gallon jug or 5 gallon bucket filled half way. Giving room for expansion. When it has been in twenty degree temps for about two days I pour it off. There inevitably is a portion frozen. The rest is pure BTO that will be thick and dark even in the heat of summer.

Thank you Turtledale, it's in glass jars, but only half full. I'm going to move them to a warmer location, but I think it will still get below freezing.
