These pics are from app. 40 and 50
yrs. ago. Used to wire together trimmed branches to make our own own coni-stands. Pic with ladder stand is my son in early 80's. Other pic is myself with under ice beaver caught in a popple baited 330 on alder pole, mid 70's. Only carried the necessities with us.

Used 1/1grade stakes for 110 mink and rat traps. Cut wedges to lock them in place at the right height. Still have a bucket full

I have built a LOT of those. Never bought coni stands. Beaver have always been a way to get permission or bait or food to me. Coni stands would be lots faster.

When I do it looks like a triangle with a point on top and sides extended past the bottom of the triangle. the bottom of the triangle goes through the trap springs. The extended legs shoved into the bottom. The sides through the trap corners to stabilize the trap. Takes a bit but works good when you can walk on the ice. I often cyt a piece of fresh willow or Quakey and make a snare pole instead. Just put it halfway between the lodge and feed pile. Easier than finding the run for a 330.

I gave up on all the coni stands years back. I either lose them or they just don't work in the rocky areas I trap. On the other hand, 2-3' pieces of 3/8ths rebar work great to support all four corners of a 330 and I can pound them into rocky areas with the back of my hatchet. It I lose some no worries. Pretty cheap.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

We used a lot of the metal superstands for under ice trapping the main den entrances when setting under ice for beaver at the house.fast set up.Arthur,a local trapper made up longer stands for this (5 feet) and sold them thru FHA
Nothing like pulling up 3 or 4 beaver from one hole, very efficient.

Walt, you always have interesting pictures. I was going to make a set like this yesterday but Korey said it was too cold and convinced me that a couple snare poles would be better on the next trip into that pond.

Why fix it when you can struggle?

Korey is probably right, but the harder you work the warmer you'll be. Lol
