I only like to use skunky k9 lures this time of year. I always order new as i have some older stuff that has lost it's strength. I recently got from two well known lure makers some higher powered skunked up junk. But, one has none and the other maybe just a hint. Not what i've had in the past. With fewer trappers am i getting longer shelf sitting lures that have lost their flavor? I've not dealt with this before as it is usually pretty powerful.

Can always add a drop or 2 from the first skunk you catch to achieve your desired aroma.

As luck would have it, or lack of, i haven't caught one in years aside from the dog getting the side of the house sprayed by one. Suppose i'll have to keep an eye out for a roadkill.

I caught a skunk in mid November at one of my baits. The smell lingered for about 2 weeks but not over powering. It brought all kinds of critters in from wolf to ermine and almost everything in between.

Probably is being stored longer. But even though you can't smell it can guarantee a canine can.

I bought Predator Plus and Long Distance Call lures from Trapping Today in Maine. Plenty of skunk smell there and I have a bottle from last year that hasn’t lost any of its smell.

Old habits die hard i guess. I've always had good luck with both lures this time of year. When the cold sets in it's just a confidence thing for me. Maybe my smeller is off? I may have to get a second opinion.

Skunk is very under rated as an attractant. And not just for K9s

I'd want to smell it, too. And strong.

Let the critters tell you what they prefer. I buy some and let them age or a year before use.
