My wife makes them. We eat them with either real maple syrup or a good fruit jam. Cherry or raspberry would be my choice.

Wonderful Wife makes them a couple times a week. We are low-carbing so she makes them with Almond Flour. She usually puts in a pile of Blueberries and Raspberries but has also used Apples. Bakes them in cast iron pan. Lots of butter and real Maple Syrup make for some of the best eating ever. Leftovers heated up the next morning are just as good!

Sorry...no pics.

Never had them but I think that's going to change, making them for breakfast shortly. Going to put chokecherry syrup that my wife maked on them

Thank you Dan. Never heard of German pancakes , those look wonderful. Your coconut oil usage is ideal. Many don't realize how good for you coconut oil is over many of the others, has a high heat tolerance , and adds a nice flavor to the mix. I wonder, is this a German originated recipe ?

I will try this . Looks great.

I, also never heard of them, but, gave them a try this morning.

I baked them, sprinkled them with powdered sugar, and topped them with home made cranberry sauce, and Trader Joes Marchino cherries.

They were Superb.

PS:

Whisking the eggs, milk and nutmeg reminded me of egg nog. So I added a cup of that, too.

I also tried them this morning. I thought a little salty, I'll use half tsp next time. Not sure if my baking dish was proper size, they came out fluffy around the edges and kind of like custard in the middle. Didn't have the coconut oil, so used butter. Not bad, wife and I enjoyed it. To be honest, I'd prefer an omelet.

I made some this morning-pretty good, topped with maple syrup.
They are similar to a yorkshire pudding but more filling.

Next time I make them I will cut back the salt a bit also.
There are some interesting variations of them,I see one with buttermilk I may try,

Salt?

Didn't need none.

Didn't even cross my mind since they are completely un-leavened

Yes. The photo at the start was two batch, one in each pan.

On those puffy ones I think your supposed to pre heat the pan with the butter in it, then pour the batter in, they'll rise better.
