Last Friday my granddaughter and I were joking around about the possibility of catching four fox because we were on a schedule and had to get her to school at a set time. Four is the most we have ever caught in one check on our short line, we’ve done it several times. This morning we did it again.

Nothing on our first stop and we had a dig up on our second stop.

Luckily we caught one, possibly the digger, in the second trap four feet away. He was in deep.

This is the second fox in this disked over pumpkin patch since we set it six days ago. I didn’t and still don’t have much confidence at this location since the farmer disked it. The fox are apparently still following the remnants of the two-track made when harvesting pumpkins.

Next stop we had another.

[Linked Image]

Next stop we had the season’s first double.

[Linked Image]

Ended the check with four.

Tomorrow is a school day and an early check.

Eh...wot?

Nicely done. You and your granddaughter are lucky to spend time together trapping. That's something neither of you will ever forget.

Ten years now CTRAPS. I told her this morning that if she ever feels like quitting she should just let me know. I told her she won't hurt my feelings. I told her my last trapping partner (her aunt/my daughter) quit when she got about her age (fifteen) so I am sort of expecting it.

She assures me she still wants to.

I believe her. I offered to skin at least one of the four fox we caught this morning but she wasn't having it. She insisted on skinning them all.

Eh...wot?

Lugnut I have had a few" 4 on the floor" fox trapping days But in all honesty I could count them on one hand
Based on your post on Trapperman you are a good all around trapper and a very good fox trapper I am pleased anytime I catch any target animal Anytime I have a double on foxes is an outstanding day for me i prefer to catch one or two a day as opposed to 4 or more I have trouble keeping up if I catch 4 or more a day with your incredible arrangement with your truly a once in a life time young lady At a time when more and more society promotes the Golden Rule to be Hooray for me and --(fill in what ever you think is acurate)-------------- one else But I do believe that society is still better than they sometimes are given credit for Thanks for you post and even more for being smart enough to invest in your future your granddaughter's future and the future of the coming generations .

Good stuff ! Man I sure miss trapping with my kids. They are the ones that got me hooked on it. My dad trapped forever but they were the ones that suggested we should set some muskrat traps. I'll never forget when I would park the truck, they would jump out and sprint to the first trap. Check it and sprint to the next one. Those days are long gone. I got my first granddaughter this year so I'm really looking forward to taking her someday. Great pictures and thanks for sharing.
