Son had to go back to CO yesterday. He has a Subaru Outback with snow tires. Hit central KS during the worst of it. Junction City to Hays was bad. On I-70 it took him 4 hours to go 90 miles. Made it to Denver to stay with friends and back to the resorts areas this morning.

We are supposed to get 3' to 5" of snow starting tonight. South and West of us is supposed to get 10". I would rather get no snow ever and definitely no ice ever.

Well?? What's the chances they will have the main roads open and salted by noon tomorrow? If we leave here around 3 am, we should be in Des Moines by noon. Is that enough time to clear a path or should we plan on chaos still? As much as I like to make time and drive the full 19 hours straight through, I don't need to catch anything that bad that it would be worth unnecessary risks.

Multiple highways in Kansas closed alert just went out no travel anywhere until tomorrow seems prudent to me…

Went and tripped my traps this afternoon, accept for 2 flat sets that I couldn't find in the ice and snow
Had a muddy snow and ice covered yote , so it was worth the mile trip on the sxs.

Then I rode down to 52 hwy and over to 13 hwy.
Both are a solid sheet of ice with 2 tracks each direction.
Don't think I'm gonna make a trek to KCKS in the morning.
Probably go hit some brush piles and blackberry patches and see if I can kill a few wabbits

When that Alert just came over our phones I said, "Yeah unless your a (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) moron stay off the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) roads!!" Of course those who most need to read that won't have read it anyhow.

Around here it used to be a challenge to see who could make it to town first in a storm.

Maurob- Are you heading south at Des Moines and then down to Joplin and over or into Kansas to Wichita and down? Iowa shouldn't be bad until the Missouri line. Whether you go through MO or KS I imagine it will be slower going but should at least have one lane of highway cleared (down to pavement). Either way I would think a couple of hours would be added on to your 19. Nevada MO south or Wichita south should be fine.

Usually Des Moines to Kansas city to Tulsa with Shawnee being the final destination. Got caught in a bit of a storm last year crossed Iowa a 40mph and the kid counted 87 wrecks.
Were going to roll in the morning and see how it goes, will pull off and get a room if it gets dumb.

The weather sucked with the wind and cold temperature but most of the snow and ice seemed to stay north of 412. It missed me by about twenty miles. Everyone in this mess stay safe.

There expecting a little snow through that part of the country Thursday night. Sure would be nice to get a few bobcat sets in before the dusting of snow, if cats are included on your trapping adventure.

North central Missouri here.
Just came in from feeding the hounds.
Snow is right at the top of my Lacrosse Burlys.
Still coming down.
Ice didn’t get thick enough to walk on before this snow.
Beaver are safe for now.
Bobcats are not.

I would not be in a big hurry to reach hwy 169. Tomorrow late morning at the earliest. 49 71 whatever you want to call to I44 wont be any better. Neither will I35 to 75 south.

North west Missouri here. We’ve had some pretty good snow. No grader down the gravel road probably won’t be for a few days. Glad I have tomorrow off

Hope you can keep that long driveway open once you get dug out, Clay! I reckon the wind is not your friend.

I appreciate the reports - cats and skunks will be about the only critters getting a ride back home. I think we will be ok as long as the gas stations have power. I run falcon wildpeaks and have a lot of traps and waxed sand in the back for weight. Should be 6 or so hours of daylight before we get to the places that were affected and I would imagine there will have been enough traffic before us that it will be fine albeit a little slower.
Again, thanks for the help

Just got a group message that GM Fairfax is totally closed tomorrow, so I can sleep in and then go see if I can kill some wabbits.

Just put a few logs on the fire and had to get through another 6 inches of snow we didnt have when I went to bed. Wind blew it around last night and I am sure roads are drifted across around here. Pretty much everything here closed up and Whiteman AFB is mission essential only with no one going in. I would not want to plan on driving through this area for 2 days until they can ge the ice exposed again on the roads blush
