I've played with it a little bit because I got i bunch of it when I bought out another lure maker. I didn't get much for positive response. But with that said I didn't give it much testing as there was other things I wanted to dive into deeper. Will say what little I've played with the man made ingredients it seems like they're pretty sensitive to having just the right amount in the formulation and that usually is alot less than we would think.
That's my experience hopefully someone with more will chime in.

I have bought from F&T Fur Harvester's Trading Post, it is strong, and can quickly destroy/take over a lure. One should use little in the beginning, so as not to spoil a batch of lure. Whether it is as effective as the real thing, I am very unsure, since I only have the synthetic one. I haven't tested the response with camera yet, but have a plan to do that in the future.

Are we talking African civets?
Or our North American skunk style civet?

Or isn't there a difference in musk between the two?

They look like two different animals to me except for the pattern of their fur

He is talking about synthetic civet replacement musk.

Actually spotted skunk essence and striped skunk essence do not smell the same to me. Nor are they the same color or consistency in my experience. Interesting contrasts.

The real stuff, Paul sells on this site is good. I use a double boiler to melt the paste into good clean skunk oil. (no skunk odor). olive oil works too but I think the skunk oil tincture is superior. Keep thinking I need to add some to spoonbill oil but have not tried it yet.

Danny, I did something similar by melting the Civet Paste into some Sun Rendered Bobcat Oil. They seemed to be compatible. But I plan on making another batch with a higher ratio of Civet Paste. Was just looking for an Oil that would Compliment the Civet Odor? Something more geared towards Bobcats than a Olive Oil tincture.

EJ., My test dog really liked the genuine civet paste! The imitation musk was ok until he got a taste of it, bad taste. Such small amount's used in a lure or bait they would probably never taste it?

Thankyou! My plan was to put a bit into a rub lure or to enhance a call lure. Guess we will see.
