Ill test them from my Crossbow this spring

Swamp cold weather can cause your bow to go out of tune
Sight it in when it's 60 and hunt in 25,
When I could pull a string I would paper tune as the temps dropped, I shot one bow so long I had marks on the limb bolts for different temps

You and I know it ain't always about the tune (the bow tune or arrow tune.) You set 'em up right, make the fine adjustments, and still have results that are not satisfying.

I've shot bows since the mid-80s. Did all my own arrow building and bow adjustments. Shot 3D tournaments for years in the 90s. Was selected as part of a shooting team by a local Archery shop. I've had my hands on a lot of bows and archery equipment over the years.

There are broadheads that do not fly true, even from a "tuned" bow. I've tried many brands and designs. I shot Muzzy 90 grain fixed 4 blade for a couple decades. The deer and hogs that I've killed with that head I've lost count of. But, as bows change, performance changes. With a newer bow, the Muzzys were just a tad off. Bow tune problem? No. Arrow build problem? No.

I had resisted expandable for a long time, but done a little research and tried out a handful of brands. The Wasp Jak-Hammers won me over. The durability, the performance (flight, opening up, & the blood trails), the availability & ease of blade replacement, fair price, and American made. The Jak-Hammers have been on the market for 25 plus years and still have near 5 star reviews.

Never had a failure or crazy flier. They're the last broadhead I'll ever use.

Patrick, I think I tried the jackhammers about 2005. I loved them but went back to the Spitfires just because it was what I was used to. Great post!

Guys, I’ve been using spitfires since they came out. I’ve killed over 200 deer with them and I really don’t see a reason to change; however, they’re getting slightly harder to find and I’m sure there are better blades out there.

My most important factor is the field point accuracy. I don’t care about blade span a single bit. I just want to be able to take my field points off and screw my broad heads on and go.

I Just saw this. I'll throw my .02 in. I have my BH opinions but in your case why change if you've killed 200 deer with em'.? That's quite few. I say " It it ain't broke, don't fix it". My other question would be how did you kill 200 deer in MT? I've been in MT for 25 years. I'm over 100+ bowkills but our limits here are not very generous compared to some other states.1 buck tag and 1 doe tag does not allow a guy to really "whack em' n, stack em' "
