Think about a cop pulling up and threatening you with arrest when you are about to hand a homeless veteran a sandwich.

That has happened too. Churches etc feeding people for free in parks or whatever, shut down usually by city ordinances. First time I am aware of was San Francisco in the 60's. Hippies calling their selves diggers were dumpster diving and getting food donations from various places and giving it away in a park. City put a stop to it. Cities stopped black panthers from doing it as well.

our governments are running amok. our ancestors would not have tolerated it

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Perhaps the next generation won’t be so tolerant.

They have options up to 16x44

https://martenportablebuildings.com/marten-portable-buildings-classic-cabin-storage-shed#scroll-two

my first house was 20x35 inside with a partial second floor that was 20x20

I know a couple that live in a little home it is a 14x35 log cabin think ,they had a bankruptcy in 2010 lost their house spent 2-3 years living in a travel trailer saving enough to buy the little log cabin and they bought 5 acers from an aging relative and moved in next to them so that they were debt free and could care for family while living next door.

the didn't plan on having any more than the 2 of them at that point both their kids were adults and moving out about that time.
they have had a daughter and grandson live with them on and off over the years since

I think they built a shed to keep the mower and stuff in
the little cabin has a bedroom , bathroom , loft above that and the main living area and kitchen.

it is primarily wood heat but they have an LP backup

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

For most of humanity's history we lived in tiny dwellings. We also spent most of our time outside, at least when the weather was nice, for most of our existence as a species. "houses", such as they were, were mostly for sleeping, and sometimes cooking and eating.

Then somebody named Jones ruined it all.

I live in Asheville NC at ground zero of the Helene storm damage. I am unaware of any government agency working against our needy citizens. There are hundreds and hundreds of government and civilian agencies helping out.

Some people who live along waterways are reluctant to leave what is left of their homes and business, and have chosen to stay in trailers, tents, etc., even though other facilities were available early after the storm.

My grandson, who will soon be an Eagle Scout, has collected tons of winter clothing, and his troupe is working to provide help for homeless individuals.

Our Republican representative published two notices per day for about 90 days, to detail FEMA support in his district. He also challenged President Trump over the hateful misinformation that was purposefully being spread during the early weeks following the disaster.

We still have isolated families deep in the mountains that require assistance. Grocery stores were washed away and may not be rebuilt. Some communities are now in "food deserts" and have to travel 30 miles to obtain groceries. Aide is being delivered via ATV and mule trains to the most desolate locations that lost their private roads and bridges.

The names of 104 people who died during the storm were released 1/7/2025.

Our new governor had created an entire relief agency to focus on Western NC

Interstate 40 is closed near the TN line and Interstate 26 is passable to some vehicles but not for large trucks.

Our drinking water was restored after about 10 weeks. FEMA supplied bottled water, showers, washing machines, and housing for anyone who needed it. The FEMA site a few blocks from me was established to support families with kids and pets.
