Dan, Thanks for posting these great pictures. I was nearly as impressed with the fine animal and landscape pictures as I was with your beautiful family. Your grand daughter's a sweetheart. How many grandkids you got? My son Nate has three daughters. June is the oldest. My daughter has no children yet - we're hoping still. Grandkids are awesome. Thanks for the complement.

I had a couple questions about my concrete "rock" drag. So here's what the bottoms look like. I quick-link my trap to them. They can be pre-baited by digging a hole and putting grain and bedding material (cotton, polyfill or wool) in the hole then putting the "rock" over the hole. Mice will soon find and occupy them. Or you can just smear bait or lure in the pocket and set the trap in front of the tunnel. I had left this one beside a trail where I had last caught a coyote with it in a blind set. To make the set that caught this cat,I attached my trap and turned the "rock"on edge and propped it against another rock (so it was more of a side blocker and not a comfortable place to step). I then made a heavily guided walkthru right on the trail with scent and polyfill on either side on little dead brush I moved in.

Awesome stuff!! To do a 2-3 week bcat line out in West River some winter is on my bucket list. Maybe the Jan of 2027 Do you all in Utah have to surrender your carcasses to the state guys? We have to here but I think a person can get them back if you request it.

No the carcass is yours, just have to come in and submit a tooth pull, same on lions, lions changed this year to just getting a permit and bring them in for an aging pull, depending on where you are at, no limits yet !
Bobcat tags seem to change every year in this state though, crazy as every one around us has no limits I'm aware of !
Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

Good to see you out there doing your thing, Dan. First pic of the badger, I noticed a little “ring around the collar” on him! Nice job with a bunch of cats for a nice payday, and great pics of a trapping family! Take care my friend. Yes sir. I love my Death Rays. Thankyou and be well my friend.

When you come get in touch. I'll point you to some wonderful spots both on and off the beaten path. That would be awesome. Seems a little difficult to become a non res trapper. What happens if you catch over your limit? You're using mostly legholds so you can release what you can't keep? Ever get cold enough to freeze a foot?

What happens if you catch over your limit? You're using mostly legholds so you can release what you can't keep? Ever get cold enough to freeze a foot? Furharvester education is required, then you just buy a nonresident license, and bobcat tags when they are open for sale in October. A frozen foot is possible depending on conditions. If we fill our last tag and catch another it must be released, regardless. So it's a mad scramble to pull traps at the end.
