Here we go...... Ohio homeowners insurance rates thru the roof again
Don't know what moves faster ....western wildfires or insurance rates....
Although .....hope no lives are lost or injured....
Why can't they clear low vegitation and use fire resistant roofing and siding out there ?
What is not talked about too much is .....fire...medics....police....rescue workers...military....etc....their health and lives put at risk for part of public not living in a place that makes rational and logical sense....

The Chaparral vegetation zone in southern California will always burn on average every 20 years. The homes built in the big river floodplains (like the Mississippi) will be flooded out. And homes built in Hurricane Ally will be destroyed.
Not to be hardhearted, because I care about those that are impacted, but our tax dollars should not be used to rebuild homes and businesses in predictable recurrent natural disaster zones.
United we stand.

This is a picture of what the Los Angeles area looked like in 1867. There were essentially no trees in that part of California before it was settled. Not because they couldn't grow there, but because of frequent fires driven by Santa Ana winds. These fires nowadays are not unusual. It's just that there is a lot of fuel available now due to people planting non native trees and such, and fire suppression.

It seems coincidental that there are 3 separate fires that started in the general area. There was no lightning that could have caused them according to the weather report. They all seem to have started just prior to a weather prediction of severe damaging winds on the horizon. Isn't CA a sanctuary state? Who knows what type of immigrants were let in there?

Common sense is at its core hardhearted. They say water resources are dwindling. I guess no one foresaw staging big supplemental water pumps in that little puddle 5 feet west of Palisades called the “ocean”?

1100 plus homes have burnt, the mayor just left and went to Ghana, the local democrats defunded the fire department, the fire hydrants don't contain water and much of the fire department's supplies were given to Ukraine.
The residents who cut down the pyrophitic plants on their properties, which are highly flammable and need to burn to reproduce, are fined and imprisoned.
Democrats suck!

I quit accepting fire calls to California after 2020. They refuse to manage their forests and rangeland, so why should anyone want to go help them? 2020 put it in perspective for me, I drove through a blackened moonscape for 5 hours (through the center of the burn) if they can just let a million + acres go up in smoke and not change management tactics, they don't need the help that bad.

Mayor cut 17.6 million from FD budget. (Wanted to cut 23M) (wonder how much went to illegal immigrants)
Calif. passed legislation dictating how much insurance companies could raise rates. A lot of them pulled out of the state for that reason leaving many without any insurance.

Insurance companies have their own fire engines and crews down there, that's how bad it is
