A month ago my daughter was butchering rabbits and I went up to help her since I'm faster ( stronger) she had several to do. she had things set up and asked are you not going to dip it in the bucket of water she had there before I started. I was like what and why. She said it keeps the fur from floating around and makes it easier to keep it off the meat. It worked. Though I would share I learned something new from my daughter and maybe it would work for others.

Almost all the cottontail rabbits I've shot over the last few years have been loaded with fleas. I wonder if soaking the rabbits in a bucket with a little Blue Dawn added would kill the fleas.

I usually let rabbits and squirrels soak for about a half hour before cleaning. Never considered the Dawn dish soap.

I would think the fleas would leave after the rabbit died.

Wow!! Ok thanks for highlighting the obvious for me. Never once did it occur to me to do it with squirrel also.

Great idea, I gotta' try this. I wonder if the dawn dish soap would neutralize the poison ivy I get from skinning squirrels?

Dang I wish I had thought about giving them a dunk last night.

I did a decent job of keeping the hair off of them, but far from a great job of it. I will certainly try it the next go round

That's the problem. I worry about the fleas getting on out pets.

I do the same bucket trick when I skin deer, keeps my hands and knife cleaner, so my peel job is neater too.
