This is just a test to see how to post a photo. I caught this coyote in a fence snare the other day in Central Texas. Good thing our fur is worthless.

We can snare under fences.

Caught one today here and was thinking I might skin it and have it tanned until I got a real close look. Hair was all rough and wooly looking so I tossed it like the rest of them here

Isn't it fun when they wrap the snare cable around a fence post a dozen times ha ha it makes you appreciate wiring off to the post so that it's easier to unwrap .

Congratulations on the catch and figuring out how to post pictures , you did it a huge favor !

I agree if they lay dead much more than 8 hours they are going to smell. That's the only thing bad about snaring.

You cut wire with cable cutters , well good for you I'd rather unwrap the wire and use the snare cable for a extension if needed .

Which I've found is a lot quicker so I can continue on to the next set , and save my cable cutters for cutting cable ha ha

Allan, in regards to your post about cable wrap up....I could never figure out how they can KNOT the cable up?? It looks like they intricately twist and jump over the cable to tie some perfect knots...lol. And I'm talking beaver here.

I do the same. I carry a cable cutter with me all the time. Much easier unwrapping a coyote if he is not attached anymore. Then use the good pieces for earth anchors.

Wait until you see what a medium sized porcupine can do to a snare , f hey can wrap up a 8' snare into a tightly wound bundle of cable less than 2' long . Since I started using more aggressive snare locks with springs the coyotes don't always seem to wrap them up quite as badly when possible I liked setting snares near entanglement and just unwrap the tie off wire and unwrap the coyote and then use the snare cable to secure the coyote to my pull behind sled to help keep fleas from crawling on me I can't stand those little buggers !

Before health issues I was running close to 250 snares a week or more for raccoons, coyotes , bobcats and badgers on two or three different ranches time was short and I had to manage it well .
