in my opinion, it has, all this crap of the NIL and the freaking transfer portal have ruined any semblance of what college football once was. Havent watched but part of the Tx/ Az State game and couldnt stand to see Az state lose. I am a big Tx fan or once was. It has turned into whoever has the most money to lure these players to their program has an upper hand. I am with Nick Saban on this issue. Earn your way to the Pro league. just that simple.

i am not even watching the Tx Ohio state game. I doubt Texas has even showed up thus far.

aN ABSOLUTE crying shame

I’ll second that. Tonight and last night’s games were very good.

And the number 8 and 7 teams will play for it all. In the old system it would have been Oregon and Georgia who didn’t even make it, goes to show with a semi legit play off it should have always been this way…

Good point, I personally don't like that a committee is in charge of who gets in though. Should be a set criteria for who plays.

There is criteria on who gets in. Though its still somewhat subjective. Top 4 ranked conference champs get in. Its the ranking process that is somewhat dubious. Though if we go back to the old BCS formula, it appears the same schools would of been in the playoffs except for Arizona St subbed for Alabama. Oregon and Texas were 1 and 2 in the simulated BCS rankings.

Ohio State just beat the number 1. and number 2. ranked teams. They definitely earned their place in the National Championship, despite their previous losses.

Yea it's a mess now days, i doubt it will ever return to school loyalty, getting a free education and team pride again. At any rate they managed to figure out a way to keep the SEC from winning it every year and that was main goal. All the play off's have done is have the kids play more ball and get more injury's! How many top player's are not playing in alot of these games? But that's fine, long as they get the money let them destroy what might of a been a career in the NFL.

Carson Beck going to Miami now, lol. Can't imagine what figure he was offered to do that. It's crazy!

College ball is no longer. If you want to follow it consider it to be professional like Triple A baseball and do not expect loyalty, school spirit etc. Just call it second level professional and act accordingly.

It is a reflection of modern society. Me me me. All about me. The argument is that a lot of the big schools were buying players before, now it's just out in the open. The whole thing just sucks. It is now just College NFL which is something I've never been into and rarely watch.

I'm pretty much done with college sports.

let's put his in perspectiv. The SEC and the Big10 each take in over 800 million. The power 5 conferences together taken in 3.3 billion that's with a B. The commissioners of these conferences make millions each, the coaches the same, then the top 16 payrolls in the NCAA total 15 million a year. All the while the players are trying to keep from getting carried off the field on a stretcher. I don't begrudge them one bit for wanting a piece of the action. I do think any NIL money spent should go to the whole team.

teepee, what's a 200,000 scholarship worth? A degree will be with you the rest of your life, most of these player's won't ever play in the NFL and make the big money. Walk on's use to be able to prove theirself and get a scholarship but no longer can which means alot of kids that can't afford a education won't be getting one now but hey, long as the star's get million's to play all is well.

As peller stated, it's ruined the sport for us older fans, maybe as we fade away newer one's who don't care about anything but me me me like the players will watch them. At some point the money is going to dry up though!

4 million for a broke down QB for one year! Crazy
