My restraints came with a deer stop which I have crimped down at the appropriate length, but did not come with a maximum opening stop. In our state it, the loop cannot be any larger than 12 inches in diameter, or about 38 inches down the cable….to the right of the relaxing lock. I have ferrules and stops but how do I get one on there now without disassembling the whole thing?

Sorry I’m stupid about this kind of thing

Update; and you have to use a heavy gauge wire support to hold up the CR!!! How is THAT thing not considered an entanglement risk?!

a small cage clip would do it, or maybe a split shot.

The other possibility is cut the end stop off the swivel end, shorten the snare so you cant make the opening bigger. Might not be an option as some states frown on extensions which would be required to stake.

Is a loop size stop required? If It is just use a split shot like mentioned or just use a small zip tie for the stop.

Similar, I would cut the stop off the swivel end and slide a double ferrule down to the appropriate maximum length and crimp it in place. By using a double ferrule that should also function as a whammy of sorts to support your loop. Replace the single ferrule at the end of the cable for your swivel and you should be all set. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Does the reg require another stop? if not just mark it with a sharpie. I cant imagine using a bigger loop anyway.

Bigger loops in wide open trails is nice sometimes, just as long as you keep the same height off the ground.

Just cut the swivel end... Only losing a half inch of cable and half cent nut

Yeah we can’t have it bigger than 12 inches in diameter. For the sake of “livestock”.

I always marked my loop size with black or white indelible felt pen depending on my cable color.

6 or 800 lbs barrel swivel right at the max loop size is a must for CRs. My opinion

Ranch supplies often have a slip on double ferrule for inclined use . Coop ect .
I've used bailing wire in a pinch. Just pinch it on. Pun intended.

Where do you get the barrel swivels.

F&T has squeeze on deer stops. I made a few from finishing nails in a pinch before.

A piece of #11 wire crimped at 38" from the end will solve your problem
Don't overthink it

I like the idea of a split shot for your max loop stop, cheap and easy but the deer stop would work also. Something that doesn't crimp the cable.
