When is the best time of the year to hit the jockey lots or flea market for you Yankee cousins. I'm thinking early spring for sure when weather warms. Hot summer is usually a no go. No one wants to be in 95 degree heat with 100% humidity here in the south.
When have you found your best deals?

Flea markets, as us Yanks call them, start popping up early summer around here. Dont see as many of them as I did when I was growing up.

Flea markets here don't usually start till spring planting season. Too deep of snow blowing and cold to have them in the winter. Heat of summer is when most happen here. Never heard the term jockey lot before

They have one here in s.c that claims to be the souths biggest and is open year round. With our cold weather here. I don't think most folks will be out selling or buying. It is mostly outdoor with a few inside boothes.
I'll wait till it warms up a bit. Southern folks don't stir too well in cold weather.

One of my side hustles is selling Kettle corn at festivals and small town events. I do some farm markets and flea markets starting in early spring. I do good at them up until the fourth of July. Then for me, they tend to slow up for awhile during July and August. Not totally sure if it's the hot weather or just that everyone is up to the lake or on vacation. I start up again for the fall season and do well.

The flea markets around here are open all year. There are inside spaces, but many vendors set up outside, even in very cold weather, because it's cheaper. I sold at both Caesers Creek and Treasure Aisles flea markets a few months ago and met Stinky Pete, Wayne, at the monthly Champaign County Antique and Flea Market at the fairgrounds.
