Does anyone remember these? I am thinking around the mid-80's? He wrote a bunch of books, one may have been called something about a Grasshopper Trap. There were several of them and I read them all a long, long time ago and can't remember the details.

YES! That was one! Like I said, I used to read them all the time and remember them being funny as heck. Wasn't Crazy Eddy the best friend?

They were my grandfather's favorite. As a kid, I didn't like them. Read the one you mentioned about grasshoppers a year or two ago again. It was okay, but still not really my thing....

I have a whole stack of them. At least 12 of them, maybe one or two hidden somewhere.

I own 5 of his books and they are a hoot to read!

I have two complete sets of his books, one set here at home and another up at camp.

And I loved the column he used to do in Outdoor Life.

RETCH! That was it. I remember something about him being too poor to have a sleeping bag so he bundled up in an old moth eaten fur coat. He got woke up in the middle of the night and the other kids thought he was a bear trying to eat them.

You were right about Crazy Eddie Muldoon though, another friend.

The Night the Bear Ate Gumba. I can't read that story out loud without cracking up. I'm inclined to say much of my life reflects the wisdom of his stories.

My Uncle David had his books and I always enjoyed reading them when I stayed at my grandparents house. I often read his stories first in "Outdoor Life".

They should make some movies out of the books and stories. A sitcom based on the stories could be great.
