How long before lead was banned from water pipes, paint and gas, or DDT as banned or asbestos Just because something has been around a long time doesn't mean it’s not harmful, I think the US is the only country that still allowed its use in food that might not be conclusive but should be telling
Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks. ― Robert A. Heinlein

They had better not touch my favorites. Yellow #5 & #6…….
Red is dead… I remember back in the late eighties or nineties there was a rumor that tartrazine (Yellow #5), shrunk men's testicles. A lot of people I knew stopped drinking Mountain Dew. Quitting made some of them miserable. Keith

Soft drinks can be addicting. I know several people that cant go 24 hours without them. Quite a few that dont eat food either. Live on grocery store snack foods. Ice cream, chips, pastry in a box etc. Those folks looks like to me are addicted to that stuff. They feed it to their kids too. Not a once in a while treat but what they eat. Daily. Prefer that stuff over food. I have no doubts that eaten like that all those unpronounceable chemicals on food labels are unhealthy.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

The timing of this announcement is no coincidence. Same reason as the cease fire in the middle east? Trying to get ahead of what they know is coming so the blows won't be as bad and maybe some won't be fired was My guess..

The timing of this announcement is no coincidence. I had to think what you meant for a bit, and will say I think it’s pure coincidence. To think otherwise would be tinfoil hatly IMO. I love Doritos and other stuff with Red Dye as much as the next person (or more) but it frustrates me to no end they put all these “food cosmetics” ad I call them just for looks. I’ve been trying to eat less crap like this anyways and I hope this can push our food industry to give more options with 100% unnecessary ingredients as loossgoose pointed out! Happy trapping! ScottW

Explaining it to Congress the other day they held up a bag of American Fruit Loops (with coloring) vs Canadian Fruit Loops (without coloring). Im not sure if its just visual and affects sales or if the flavor is diff too I don't know. Its all sugar I don't know but wonder about the Doritos example too. Beats me. We will see I guess. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/01/full-24446-244248-2025_01_17_13_42_39_action_center.jpg)

All food dyes should be banned, they have no nutritional value. Time for the US to get rid of all the chemicals and other additives in food.
While I understand what your saying there is nothing that makes people uy and eat these products and there are healthy things to eat available. Typically anything the government dose it messes up. I'm more pro freedom and say let the moron be morons. There is no reason to need warning labled to not drink the battery acid for example. More laws and regulations mean more government is needed to keep track of and enforce those regulations. That's more wast and eventually more government power. The road to heck is paved with the best intentions.
