So long as you can keep making the set I keep setting it untill its no longer possible then I set a new spot at the edge of the catch circle.I never hide the catch circle as thats odor and eye appeal.

If you are K9 trapping, I have always been of the mind that the next one will circle the set or approach from downwind, or both. I have seen this in the snow enough to believe it. If I am doing anything other than resetting the center I locate my set with that in mind. I thought that way as well. But I had one set this season that produced 3 male yotes. Same catch circle, same Duke 650 pro, same lure and bait and the same piece of hedge post backer. I also had 2 other sets at the perimeter of said catch circle that didn't produce squat. Along with 3 other sets spread out along this particular half mile long waterway that didn't produce anything. So that has me questioning my thoughts. Go figure !

To add insult to injury, when I caught the fox the other night I called the coon hunter that was out there and asked if he’d take care of it for me. He did. I had a dinner to attend yesterday evening and couldn’t get out there to reset. About 9ish last night a bobkitty comes by and checked out the set, lol. I’ll get it reset this evening and see if he comes back through this weekend. I have three sets within 75yds of each other. And 2 out of the 3 have really produced. The other main set is a dirt hole, it’s produced 2 other fox, 2 cats, and a coyote. Got cameras on all three sets so I know when something walks by ignoring the sets. Dang thats to bad.Hopefully the bobcat comes back.

Definitely believe in nothing I say absolutely......lol. Dumb dogs anyway. I caught a female coyote once. Next night the male, I assume her mate, circled the ring and made kickbacks. I caught him in my next set upwind, you could follow his tracks right to it. I totally agree they don't care sometimes, until they do. We just keep trying, they gotta make no mistakes every night to live, we only gotta make none for one night to catch em....not counting every night they don't even show up.

I watch the remaining depth of the anchor. Many times with multiple catches the dirt will be shaved or dug around the anchor cable/chain. If it is compromised too much, I pull it and move only to the edge of the circle.
I pull all sets on a property based on a set number of planned days for trapping that property as I usually have other tracts to work.

Ok, most know I’m a catch whatever trapper. My sets are all coyote sets but I take whatever chooses to step on the pan. My question is how many catches before you move the trap? I use chained super stakes and attach to the end of the chain of the MB550’s. Where this particular trap is I only pounded in about 10” of chain and I never pound into the bed, it’s always off to the side. I’m curious how many catches before moving out of the original bed? Do you wait until the bed starts really becoming depressed or just keep setting until they eventually quit checking it out? We’ve got some good rain coming and I’m thinking of moving over about 6” or so just to not have a depression. I’m in pines so I can use pine straw to “hide” the catch circle, which I’ve been doing anyways. It started out as a flat set with just a couple driver holes on either side to drop some scent and since that’s working, it’ll stay a flat set. … I’ve had some sets that took double digit coyote… if it’s working I don’t change a thing ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2025/01/full-105-244343-img_0557.jpeg)
