Providence it was only about 110' it had lost its original top long ago, it had some stubby co dominant replacement tops, but they didn't amount to anything worth my time. When you have to climb those big ones, spur your way up in a spiral, that's the only way to get the flip line up.
Jurassic it depends on the stand, but some were probably saplings when Christ was on the cross. Some are much younger, probably 600-800 years on average for an old growth patch We cut a oak that was from the late 1700s and we were all amazed, cutting thousands year+ trees is amazing, what a privilege to see and work with something like that. As far as climbing big trees goes, the new ascenders make it much easier than it used to be with the spikes, just shoot a line up and climb the rope.

You need some serious help...........I'm heading up there with my 16 inch sthil easy start to give you a hand......lol........I don't know how to sharpen though........and can you supply fuel ?................
I've got 2 questions... Is that what they call virgin forest and do the dogooders sabatoge you guys trying to work Those photos give hazard pay a new mesning........stay safe...

That is likely the biggest (and oldest) trees being logged today in NA.
Those pics remind me of pics of the virgin longleaf pine and cypress forests of the Southeastern US and the logging ops here.

Excellent pictures!!! My hat goes off to you tree cutting experts. Never cut anything bigger then 3.5 to 4 feet across and they have had ne worried. Great job and thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
