There's quite a bit of lion activity in an area that I'm trapping.
I stopped to check some snairs and a lion had used my foot trail to drag ( a young deer I beleave ) to a brush choked hill side. I fallowed the tracks to about 25 yards from my snairs. I stopped at the edge of the thick brush.
I have a hunch the cat was very close because the snow had stopped about an hour earlier. I checked my snairs and went on with business. The cat had drug the deer for atliest 600 yards from were I first saw the drag marks.

I'm with ya the cat was close by. I have seen that before where they will move their kill and never to find it. Thanks for sharing your travels.

I have stepped on a small cat one time. I was going down some sandstone cliffs with the wind blowing hard and jump down a three foot cliff and landed on it's back foot, things got very wild fast the cat was trying to get up and run and I was trying to go back up the cliff. When the dust settled it went one way and I stood with gun ready and watch it run off. I would like to know how many I do walk by because I find the deer that they have killed alot. When you have snow at least you can see where they are at!
