I have 3 coyote pelts ready to ship to the tannery. Looking at the dimensions of the medium and large flat rate boxes it looks like I could get 2 pelts in a large flat rate. Would need to use a medium flat rate for the other one pelt.

Or is it going to be more economical to simply pack all 3 in the smallest cardboard box I can find and pay standard shipping?

I know I'm in a Speedy Delivery area but don't know where the shipping site is located.

Thanks.

Pack it in another box. Smallest you can get them in. I found that out shipping Christmas to family in SC and Ark. A 5by7by 3 cost me 5.98 to ship to ark. Smallest that rate was 9.95 plus had to pay for the box. I think it was 3.95

Not much weight so might be cheaper just making your own single box.

If you print your own shipping labels, check out Pirate Ship.

It is a free shipping program and will save you money. Does both post office and UPS.

And definately put all 3 pelts in one box.

Also get your shipping through pirate ship. I don't really understand how a private company can sell postage cheaper than the post office but they do.

Pirate Ship is making money without charging the person shipping the box a fee. They do it with negotiated rates with UPS and PO. PS generates such a large amount of business that they get really good rates and pass them on to the shipper while keeping a portion for themselves.

Companies like stamps.com most likely get the same rates but they make more money by charging shippers a subscription fee. Corporate greed.

I have been using Pirate ship for about a year now. DEFINATELY CHEAPER.
Need a scale to weigh your package

Although, there is no way you couldn't get three dried furs in the long large flat rate box, unless they were bears or something. Still be cheaper to ship other ways though.

Use Pirate ship. I just shipped fur that would fit in medium box ($20) for $7.32.

ADC - I seriously doubt you can fit three (3) stretched and dried coyote pelts in one of those long large flat rate boxes. Just no way, in my opinion.

Are you up to proving me wrong??? smile

Not sure what size flat rate box you need. But unless what you are shipping is heavy it will be cheaper to use your own box.

And what happens if you can’t make them fit?

One rule - all 3 pelts have to remain intact. You are not allowed to shred them into tiny pieces.

I’m not sure even vacuum packing can fit 3 coyote pelts in one of those boxes, if they were dressed, more likely. Just my opinion.

You need to stomp harder Nancy. I've always packed more in them boxes than you thought could be done remember? It don't matter if the box is puffed up like a balloon, if it fits, it ships. Use a ton of tape! lol

Oh I remember everything you have stuffed in one of those boxes. I’m still not convinced it is possible to fit 3 dried coyotes in one of those boxes.

I’ll let you know when the coyotes are on the way to you.

You haven’t said what happens IF you can’t make them fit???
