Think we can get a thread goin on this ? Listened to some podcasts with some older guys and they were talking bout stuff they where using to be mobile in the woods back in the 70's. Though it was cool..using lineman climbing gear before the modern saddles where a thing. Wind walker lock ons and... I forgot what it was called but was a deal that looks like a lock on stand mixed with a hammock.... Thought alot of the homemade stuff was cool to. Decided to go as on a saddle hunting group on Facebook...but outta 10k people seems only 10 know more then the latest and greatest cash grab Lord forbid you ask to see some old school home made stuff. It's all box stands ladder stands and the odd climber around me , so this stuff is a bit more interesting.Anyhow cool pod cast if you wanna listen and would love to see and hear whatever y'all got on the subject

Love listening to Warren Womack episodes any podcast I can get. That guy was and still is dedicated. Love when he pulls out the journal and starts giving dates and hunt recaps. Robert Carter and Chris spikes(sikes?) are two that you may like watching their hunting videos if you like his stuff.

… good videos W …. Watching that woodpecker drill makes like my climbing sticks even more lol
It takes some getting used to, to use those pole climbers! I remember coon hunters during the fur boom bragging about using them. That and Ammonia poured into the den trees!
We have met the enemy and the enemy is us!

… best part of that kind of hunting is you don’t have to raise deer..spend money on punkin patches , feeders, food plots or what have you …. Just find where they’re at … climb and kill…scout and hunt at the same time
…. Of course I’m lucky and live amongst 160,000 acres of government woods so free meat is easy to come by if a man can figure out which acre to be in at any given time
Insert profound nonsense here

I had a climber when I was a kid that you strapped to each foot. And walked up the tree, they didnt go completely around the tree, only 1 arm on each. Nothing to sit on and no top climber. It was horrible. Guess it was designed to use a linemans belt or tether. It went in the garbage. Started saddle hunting now, Not carrying heavy climbers all over the mountain anymore.

spent a lot of time in an Anderson tree sling in the early 90's. probably why I have circulation problems in my feet. But still better then a Baker climber in a beech tree in the rain.
