Just wondering if anyone has tried these cordless chainsaws to cut small branches for kindling.
If so which brand’s worked you?
We have a lot of small branches spread out in various places around the farm. We have big chain saws and a wood splitter. However I was thinking one of these would be handy to have. I could take the 4wheeler with a trailer and cut some kindling while cleaning up trails at the same time .

How big do you really want to cut? If it's under 3" the single battery 18 volt saws work well enough. For anything larger than 3"+ I would get a duel battery or 36 to 40 volt saw. If you already have batteries I would probably get whatever corresponds to the batteries you have. I have Makitas and like them and husqvarna. The husqvarna is better but the cost is considerably more.

I bought one if these a couple of years ago and have been very happy with it.

I would buy another one. The Ego chainsaw has good power and battery life. It is light and comfortable to use on brushy hillsides.

Not sure of what size branches you are looking to cut. My wife works at a shop that sells Stihl saws. She brought home a small cordless with a 3 or 4 inch bar. I laughed. But it works great for anything that I would use a machete on. It also has an extended reach handle that is about 4'. She uses it to cut limbs for craft projects.

Milwaukee M18 hatchet 8" saw has ...it is either on my honda or in my Tacoma while coyote hunting. It would handle that size stuff all day long and is lighter and much easier to handle for 'brushing' work than a regular size electric saw. If it broke tonight, Id be on the way to the store tomorrow to replace it....great tool.

I've got an ebay cheap chinese saw with a 5" blade I believe, it's orange, lol, it's pretty amazing what it will do, does not have an oiler so you should spray lube it occasionally.I've cut 6" seasoned cherry branches with no problem...battery life is good....

The bar and chain is the problem, not hard to put back on, but hopefully you enjoy doing it.

I bought 2 clearance Wesco 10" chainsaws for $50 bucks each (including 2 batteries) and a 12" Makita for $200. I cut down a 19" rock hard maple tree along with another dozen trees with the first Wesco saw (all cut into firewood length). I haven't had to use either of the other saws. Just buy extra chains off of amazon for $4 or less each and you will be shocked at what they are capable of. I thought I'd burn out the cheapy Wesco saw's in short order. Keep in mind they are almost silent, but will cut parts of you off just as fast as a gas saw.

I have a Kobalt 24v for light trimming around the place I've been very happy with. Will cut down bigger stuff than you might expect!!

I haven’t used mine a ton yet, but my Milwaukee works just fine. I’ve cut 10” oak with it no problem. I wouldn’t buy it for that purpose but it can do it. I have felled and bucked up 12” pine trees without issue. I’m impressed. It has a 16” bar.

I have a DeWalt 12" battery model that works great. I've cut down 5-6" diameter small trees with it so far.

I got the Milwaukee hatchet, comes with a 6” bar but I installed an 8”. I like it, but not for cutting little stuff…..chains way too aggressive. Great for on the line! I’ve got the Milwaukee 16” saw in my work truck, it gets used 80% of the time, but will never replace my gas saw.

I bought a Milwaukee 4 years ago and used it minimally. It started making a chattering noise so I took it in and they said it was the control panel and wanted $275 to fix.Ended up buying an ego that seems a lot better.Extra batteries are insanely priced however.
