My son borrowed a little Milwaukee chain saw from a buddy. We used it to cut in bear baits last fall and it worked pretty well. I mainly liked how quiet it was. Guys not going to cut firewood all day with it. But nice not to have the gas and noise when just cutting a few small things. I have the Milwaukee pole saw attachment for my string trimmer. That also works pretty slick for just piddling around the yard. Taking off couple inch limb.

My buddy bought his wife a cordless electric Stihl as a gag because she cant seem to start a gas powered one. Now we try to shanghai that thing when we are building fence, clearing a water gap, or adjusting a gate on wood posts. It is great for small jobs.

they released the Rigid 12 inch , I have been looking at it for camping , cutting down those peices of fire wood that are too long for the stove , and little clean up tasks.
I hate buying firewood camping and there is often so much dead wood around there is no need but cutting it with the hand saw gets old
I also spring for the electric camp site now most of the time , that way I can run a fan if warm , a heater if cold and charge my boat battery so that I have electronics and trolling motor. my 15hp Johnson has no alternator or generator just a pull start. parks frown on you firing up the gas saw

I have a 20 inch Dewalt and I really like, it does eat thought the battery power, my next saw is the 3120 huskie, the chips and stuff fall out of the hole under the battery, I’ve switched to Carlton chain but the 20 inch has to come from Dewalt and they’re not best but they don’t cost much. Thanks. Good info.

I have a cheap Worx brand from amazon that works amazingly well for what I paid for it. It came with two small batteries but cuts great. I’ve cut 6-7” limbs that have fallen in the yard and it handles them just fine.

I have a Sthil 200c at work. Use it all the time and really like it. I just need to remind myself to add bar oil, for some reason on the battery stuff I'll forget every now and then. probably every time you change a battery that should be the thing to check as a habit I do that on my corded electric chain saw , I like it because while it is small and doesn't cut all that fast , on anything 6 inches or less it gets through it before I could go fire up my big saw and I will get pieces that just need to be cut down to go in the stove at one point I had a truck full of 4-6 inch 8 foot logs I cut most of them up with the little eclectic because I could do it after dark and not wake anyone up

I think the checking the bar oil on the electric saw is easy to forget. Guy gets in habit on gas saw just fill gas and bar oil at same time. Messy part at same time.. Dang electric saw grab a extra battery stuff in my coat pocket. Forget might need bar oil too. Got to get a routine going like do with gas saw.

If they ever get those things dialed in with more power, and a longer lasting power source, I see a big uptick in night time tree poaching.

If they ever get those things dialed in on a longer lasting power source, I see a big uptick in night time tree poaching. people who steal seldom want to work hard so I don't think it will be a huge issue. for the asking you can already have so much standing dead wood

Prolly true GREENCOUNTYPETE, tree poaching is rampant in the UK, but lots of woodburners with few trees over there.
We've had increasing amounts here in the national forests, but nothing serious yet.

My wife bought a Saker cordless 6" chain saw. I've been using it for cutting buckthorn and brush. It works great and is cheap. She got an extra battery for it. I think she said she paid under $35 for it.
My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Makita stopped with gas saws and is all in with bats. Be stupid for me to name best, having only ran a couple brands.
Someone said chain proprietary? I find this hard to believe.

If they ever get those things dialed in with more power, and a longer lasting power source, I see a big uptick in night time tree poaching. I knew a guy who made a muffler port that protruded enough to be able to clamp a piece of hydraulic hose on it, and run the hose into a bucket of water for that reason. Not very portable or convenient, but I'm certain it worked for him, he always has quilled or fiddle maple blocks around
