Use a rag and dampen them a little bit

Did you use a belly wedge? If so, tap them on the floor and attempt to pull them off from the nose. If that doesn't work try using a flat screw driver and use it to pry the skin from the nose. If that doesn't work, then go to the above advice.

A "half truth" is still a whole lie.

YOu may need to wrap them with a wet rag and let them soften and then redry.
I use a flat head srew driver and I wedge it between the nose end of the board and the dried hard nose of the pelt and lossen it and that gets them started. YOu mentioned plywood, I hope the edges are smooth well sanded and that the edges are even as that could be a problem in removal if not.

Split them up the belly with a knife.

Sometimes when I can't get them off the stretchers I put the base of the stretcher in the vise and I pull on the pelt with two hands. Always works!!!

Are the edges routered, like ones you buy or homemade? I have a screw in the wall a foot taller than me and lift up stretcher, place nose of coon over screw and pull down gently, works every time. If they are really stuck maybe take outside where its cold for a little bit then bring in and re-try.

yeah the strethers are homemade but i have all the edges routered and sanded , they are as even as i could get them. i sanded everything on them so its as smooth as you can get plywood. i tried the rag trick on one and i got it off fairly easy with the opposite end in the vice.
thanks

would putting them in the bathroom and then running a hot hot shower help, the steam might losen them up a bit and not totally soak them

Did you try Marks suggestion? I had to drop a few mink on their nose before to get them off a board. One good bounce on the concrete should do it.

mark ask "Did you use a belly wedge?"
Well,,,,,,,,,,,,, did ya???
If not, the wet/damp towel is your best bet.

You can tap the nose on the floor, put them outside to freeze, or wrap them in a damp towel. All Good Ideas, BUT when you put up the next ones, do what Mark posted, PUT A BELLY WEDGE between the hide and the stretcher!
Waugh!
