I had a request from a young friend . He asked me if I could show him how to make sets to catch coyotes. He started trapping a couple years ago , but like most of us the predators gave him problems. Long story short I took him out on my property , showed him a few different foothold sets and how to set up cable restraints. So far in the last few weeks we've caught 5 coyotes and 4 red fox. He is in seventh heaven and hooked for life. [Linked Image]

We released all but 1 Red , due to the coyote population in the area. I've been releasing them for years.

Nice work, and congrats on getting the new guy hooked.

How's the coyote population in your area this year?

With the lack of snow they are not moving like a normal winter. They have easy pickings with the field mice. The population seems to be average, not an over abundance of them.We also have distemper in the area again . I found some dead coon again and no mink sign at all.

That's what I am seeing around here also. Very little sign of anything moving. Good luck.
