Anyone know how to get the best deals at harbor freight? With all their coupons and constant sales how do you know what the good prices actually are? I'm putting 2 tool boxes together that employees will have access to, probably a couple thousand dollars worth of tools but I can't decide when to buy them because I never know if a salw is actually a good price or not.

Idk about any current sales but we bought their loyalty program and it’s already paid for itself with a few purchases. I think it’s like 30 bucks a year?

Talk to the store manager. I've been able to get better deals by talking to them before.

Depending on the tool I’m not sure it really matters, otherwise check other similar tools online from other vendors.

Do y'all still shop HF as much often?

Over the last 10 years I've gotten to where I rarely shop there anymore. Their prices seem to not be as good as before and the coupons are much more restricted. I never go to the store anymore without checking amazon first, and usually end up ordering from amazon.

They used to send a flyer with their offerings and the current coupons, often you would see the sales price coupon and the same item at the regular price in the same flyer...but they don't do that anymore since covid. Now it seems it's all online so I forget to check, but they still offer coupons, you just have to check their website...

Get the membership and they flood your email with coupons

Yeah, I know they have a lot of coupons. It just seems like they're prices are very high without coupons and still high with coupons.

A random example that comes to mind: a few months ago I bought a cheap concrete vibrator.

Harbor Freight Chicago Electric brand: $99

Chicago Electric seems like an ok cheap import brand. Its no where close to top tier (DeWalt, etc), but its a step up from unbranded junk.
In my experience Vevor seems to be fairly similar in quality.

Vevor brand on amazon: $55

If I get a 25% off coupon for HF and if it doesn't exclude Chicago Electric, that drops HF to $75. Their better coupons for specific tools are usually 20-35% off. That's still noticeably more than the Vevor that wll arrive on my doorstep.

For $10 I can get a 4 year warranty on the Vevor. So for $65, I can have a concrete vibrator with 4 year warranty. I ordered that Vevor a few months ago. It was $49 at the time.

One of the few recent cases HF has come out on top for me was a 20 ton shop press. I got that from them.

So I guess my answer to Donnersurvivor is that my way of beating HF's sale prices is going to amazon.

just give them your email membership or not and it is near daily

watch the sales on what you are looking for over a 2 month span you will get a good idea of what your best price will be

issue with that is if you need them right away


I will say , the Dead blow hammers , I have a 2 , 4 and 5#

I needed a soft face at pne point and got the small one because it was like 9 dollars I just bought the 5# for 15 and some change

I beat a 4# to pieces on truck rims breaking them lose
you walk in carrying the broken one and any chunks that came off it , they take a little info and in 5 minutes you are walking out with a new one , they do honor the warranty on the hand tools.

they actually have a good sale right now 30% or 40% for inside track member

that brings the jack I have been looking at from 179 to 119 , the last sale I saw on it was 139

The major holiday parking lot sales are pretty good too.

I get enough free 5 gallon every year to pay for the membership.

I bought 2 of their 1/2” cordless hammer drill Hercules brand last year to run my augers for dirt holes. Went through 3 of them in our rocks/soil. Just took them back and they handed me a new one. 3 year warranty. I have one of their Vulcan multi process welders that runs similar to our Millers at work.
