I was checking a beaver site that was froze over which doesn't happen very often around here.
I saw some young man tracks in the snow on the ice where the rascal was heading down stream toward one of my sets. It was left alone since it was under the ice.
I checked the upstream sets which were visible, but he ran out of good ice before he got there. There was a sizeable hole in the ice and began to worry about it he got out or not. No worries. I could see where he belly crawled to get back on the good ice. I'll bet that was a long cold walk back home in 20 degree weather. The nearest house is a mile away.

Served him right.

Haha. And he knows the trapper is going to have at good laugh at his expense when he sees the tell tale tracks.

And a good lesson that's for sure. Not everyone gets out of the water after a fall through the ice.

Think it was a kid? Kind of dumb for an adult.

maybe stop by the house and see if the kid wants to come along and learn about trapping,

I'm glad he got out!!! I hope he did not a good thing no matter what he was doing.

Could just be a kid out exploring the weather and ice. Did that a lot through the years.

I am with Dahlgren, maybe see if the young person is interested in the outdoors. Could be there is nobody in their life that knows or cares about outdoor stuff

I'm proud of the boy even though I have no idea who he might be. He caused me no harm, he learned a hard lesson about ice, and likely made it home.
