For you rat trapper that board your rats (use wood). What is the base width of your board 6" or 6.25"?

I just bought a dozen Freedom Brand that are 6 inches wide. I have some no name boards that are 6 3/8 inches.

If I am not mistaken rat boards come in 3 different sizes. Would have to look at the widths.

Mine are 3 different sizes and they were the dimensions that were in the NAFA booklet that gave the sizes for all the species and the various sizes. When the the screen that measured square centimeters was used, width was not a big issue. I always got more to the next size then when I measured and shipped mine. Ditto with FHA. Most of the other buyers use the old width and length and that can cause one to get down graded a whole size by 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch in width. That is the older more antiquated way and does not work in the sellers favor.

Those rat boards are too wide in the neck and shoulder area. Take a 1/4 inch off the width in both areas and you will gain about 1" to a 1 1/2 in length. Size matters.

I asked the question because my 3x/2x percentage went way up with NAFA using the light scanner when I went to a 6" board (extra 1" to 1.5" of length). Now that the rat market is soft, will buyers/graders down grade for a 6" vs.6.25" rat? Just something to throw out there for discussion.
