If, for whatever reason, you don't eat pork products, can you eat breakfast at a restaurant?
Most breakfast meat has pork and all cooking is done on a big griddle, there must be pork "juice" on other foods.

There are non-pork meats but still, if it's cooked on a common griddle, there would be residue.

Educate me, please.

Most of the eggs are cooked in a pan and the grill is used for sausage ,bacon and such.

So there is no way a restaurant can assure you there is no pork in your meal.
If I were Jewish or Muslim, I couldn't eat at a restaurant?
Just something I was wondering.

are you kosher / Halal or just don't eat pork.

remember for the most part what they don't want to know won't hurt them

I have a co-worker who does not eat pork but also doesn't not eat a hamburger when we grill it on the same grill.
he just doesn't over think it too much I guess

so to be kosher/ halal it goes so far that they have to steam clean a kitchen that had pork to make it clean again for a Kosher meal.
I used to happen every year at the Grand Geneva in lake Geneva WI , there was a Jewish conference they would close down the kitchen for a day of cleaning then nothing but Kosher for the week of the conference.

people who are serious about it only go to Kosher or Halal restaurants , deli's and meat producers.

there are Kosher deli's in CHI , technically you can eat at a sub way owned by Dr's Inc they serve no pork their ham is turkey ham

middle eastern restaurants might serve goat but there will be no pork

I would imagine you could make a special request. Kind of like people eating at a seafood restaurant with a fish allergy. The restaurant would have to cook yours in one of those special pans that does not have community pork residual in it I would imagine

if you are actually Kosher / Halal , having it stored in the same cooler is an issue.
having a gallon of milk in the beef cooler is an issue

my grandpa grew up a Chicago Jew , he met my grandma at the end of WWII at a USO dance NE WI Lutheran girl he went to church with here the rest of his life about 60 years.
he wasn't particularly interested in remaining a Jew , his pre-WWII childhood since he joined up on his 18th birthday hadn't been particularly good he didn't have much desire to return to it.
when my dad was a kid Grandpa tried to re-connect with some family I suspect right about the time his father died they said pick the restaurant and we will meet up , of course not on a Saturday, he didn't pick a Kosher restaurant so they didn't show . only relative he ever spoke with for the rest of his life was his sister who wasn't hung up on being kosher or being Jewish , she had changed her name during the war to sound less Jewish.

Thanks for the comments. Good points.

It's just something I thought about this morning while I was eating my French toast and bacon. Not sure why I thought of it. I guess, like most things, it depends how committed or passionate about something.

Thanks again.

Less than 2% of the US population is Jewish and slightly less than 17% of them follow a Kosher diet. There's a bunch of good, Jewish food shows where Jewish people like Philip Rosenthal, who has a great show called "Somebody Feed Phil", 2 old Jewish grandmas and Jerry Seinfeld eat all sorts of very non Kosher foods. Phil's show is very enjoyable.

There a lot of options for breakfasts that don't include any meat so you should not have a problem finding a meal that you can eat.

Poached or hard boile eggs, pancakes, waffles, fruit, cheese dishes, micro waved hasbrowns are just a few things that don't hit the grill.

I will give you poached , hard boiled , waffles , fruit

but the pancakes are going on the same flat top as meat. same with the omelets , scrambles

why on earth would you eat microwaved hash browns at a diner , you go because they make a heaping mess of them on the flat top right where the bacon was just under the griddle press.

if you are Observant Kosher you just don't go to non kosher restaurants.
https://www.totallyjewishtravel.com...onsin_United_States-Kosher_Eateries.html
there appear to be 11 in Wisconsin most in Madison or MKE or a few in the burbs of those two.

if you are observant Kosher you are also probably Hasidic

a lot of modern jews are only Kosher for Shabbat or if their mother is watching them eat.

I worked in a restaurants for many a years. On the extremely rare occasions we'd get requests for meals not cooked near pork (maybe twice in 20 years) we cooked the food in the microwave in sterile containers. Imagine it tasted as awful as it looked.

I eat pork chops, roasts, my favorite is ribs and kraut. Try a beef and pork roast together sometime. Mighty good eating!

It's been months since I bought the book, "How To Scam People On Line". It still hasn't arrived yet.
