Now that the current administration has made it clear. That they want to get rid of well over half of all Federal employees. We all know their are plenty but where to start. Do you think the USDA or some form of it will be kept as an agency? If so will they keep trappers on the payroll or give that job to ADC guys and private sector. Maybe return the issue of damage control to the individual states to deal with? I know a lot of guys here on Tman complain about Government trappers killing beavers that they instead could trap. Midwest guys would like our wolf season back or at least a chance to do damage control.
Any of the USDA guys here on Tman get the offer to resign? that was supposed to have gone out to all federal employees the other day?

Mac I have never understood how USDA can trap beaver and compete against private industry. If you are ever bored, Google the "Pressler Bill".
I have nothing clever to put here.

Who owns the beaver down there. Here the trapper owns the beaver so the trapper has first right of refusal on any nuisance work required within the boundaries of his trapground. Private landowners can protect their own property themselves however they see fit (within the law)

So by public you mean the government(of by and for the people). Then that is why they can take care of them as they see fit.(like hiring their own agents)

That is what they are doing Boco. The problem is that there are laws being ignored that say government is not supposed to compete with private business. An even bigger problem is that urbanites believe since it is the government they must do a better job.

Then that is why they can take care of them as they see fit.(like hiring their own agents) A public resource, but it is the State Government that has management authority over beaver, not the Feds. The Feds do have management authority of threatened or endangered species, but that's not beaver.

Just try and come trap on my trapground and you will find out quick who owns the fur. When you flesh them, they will say "Property of Boco" just below the ears.
