I changed companies some things went down a touch others went up a fair amount.
I am paying more and with a different company.

the house stayed very close to the same been in this house 20 years without any claims on any of my houses in the 25 years I have had a house.

we got told , we were lucky , 4 major insurers were pulling out all together and a lot of people will basically have no coverage on houses.

Why? What is going on in WI?

Have you heard of any insurance companies that have gone broke recently? That will answer your question as to the cost. They are like Vegas..... the house never truly loses.

Why? What is going on in WI?

what I was told is that it is going on lots of places , but there were a bunch of small insurers who were having policies underwritten by larger companies and with repeated spring tornados , hail and wind the last 2 years several companies realized they didn't have enough set aside to pay claims.

state farm also decided to start with WI to "modernize" their policies
they found some new formula to assign risk and they don't want any

I pay about 6500 a year for insurance on all my stuff. I am scared not too. In a catastrophe it will be a big help. Never hear about insurance companies going bankrupt.

Got some of it back with a log and a hail storm. If not for liability I’d not pay as much. In today’s world a split second can cost you a lifetime of working and saving.

I was informed this year that insurance on my 2011 2500HD truck is going up because it is too old and parts to fix it if damaged are more expensive. what the heck is that?

Yes not surprising at all to see insurances rise signiifcantly as the price of the covered assets has risen significantly as well. Also there are more and more events that are causing larger amounts of property loss so there is a double whamy as to why coverage costs are increasing. High asset costs with high interest and maintaining those assets will further limit a majority of people and families over time owning assets.

If you've got a nice boat it makes sense to insure it.

That is why i don't have nice stuff. I can afford to watch my stuff burn to the water line.

When I lived at the coast I had to have a wind policy because my homeowners excluded wind damage. The wind policy ten years ago was over $4k. Also had flood as well as homeowners. Ouch.
